1994 caprice "the bad" with 3 inch exhaust Video Clips.
Video of "the bad" with 3 inch dual exhaust, and 40 series flowmasters. The car is currently under construction with 138 hours of work (about 14 working days) over the past couple of months. Started with a 1986 caprice frame and a 1994 caprice body and the drivetrain from "the ugly" (1982 el caprice featured in one of my other videos. The 3 inch exhaust came with the '94 body, took a lot of work to make it fit. Also has flowtech headers, 1 3/4 primary, 3'' collector. They are for a 77-87 cutlass. Passenger side bolts right in. On the driver side the flange, tubes and collector were all cut apart, reangled and welded back together. If the engine didn't have a diesel starter (huge gear reduction unit) the driverside would have fit with some dimpling of the tubes and cutting the collector off to change the outlet angle. Still have a few mechanical issues to work out (like the whistling air bleed), then the engine wiring harness needs to be re-done, then body work. Update: Got the car painted and on the road by January 3rd. January 31, 2008 the engine started knocking. Sounds like a rod bearing. So Oldsmobile engines are good for 35 years and ~300000 miles. Update 2: Replaced the first oldsmobile engine with another from a '73 Omega. Lasted through the winter of 2008/2009, rod knocking. The nylon cam gear teeth started coming apart, blocking some oil passages in the crankshaft. Busy with other projects, but am working on rebuilding this engine as the bores were perfect still ...
